Oh the delights of a renaissance man!
One who shares such talents and tools
Unexpected in their wide divergence
Free from social norms and rules

The hippie who embroidered daisies
Wherever he found tears in his clothes
Then stained glass called to his artist
Kaleidoscopes of teal, gold, and rose

Musical too, he once sung in a choir
Later sang us the wild and strange songs
His harmonica enlivened any ‘ole tune
And our family would sing right along

His mistress was lovely and mysterious,
All of nature and its wonders was she
He taught us which things to eat and avoid
And how to know every flower, bird and tree

Books by the pound he read us for hours
Doing all the voices with fame
His children all won at education
Love of books made learning a game

Somehow you held all these components
In one curious, wise person
A Swiss army knife of a man -
My father is wonder, teaching, passion.
